Introduction: Where Sports is a Passion not a Job

The remains of The Hilltop Reporter are not gone yet. The Drs. Found a pulse and now we will be operating as a Sports Page only.

Why? Look at the papers around the area and you will see the Canyon Lake Hawks don’t get a lot (if any) coverage. In fact, since the Hilltop Reporter started three years ago the team and school got more coverage than they had previously.

Competition will do that sometimes. This is where the phrase above got its emphasis.

Going to sporting events and being in the Press box with other writers covering the Hawks, I found that the writers were more concerned with their date for the weekend than the actual game they were watching.

The writers were not from the area and to them all they had to do is beat the deadline for their article and everything would be fine.

I did not operate that way. I have a general interest in young people (I was a Youth Minister for 13 years) and I fell in love with the Coaches, the school, and the players.

My articles will allow the parents to still have the opportunity to follow their children and at the same time give the ‘Moms’ an opportunity to Scrap Book.

Enjoy the web page and let us know how we are doing.

Also, we will be an ‘AD’ based site and would love for you to look at the advertising and if you frequent the companies, let them know you saw them on the web site.

It does cost time and gas to get to the venues and that will be the telling sign to know if this will be profitable, as we think about continuing the venture for next school year.
