Canyon Lake’s Boys Track and Field Update
The numbers below tells how the Hawks finished in their District Meet the past two years. The third line represents how this year’s team is in relation to those meets at last weeks Comfort Meet.
Dist. 2009 Dist. 2010 2011
Track Meet Track Meet Comfort Meet
4X100 Relay 45.95 44.64 44.71
4X200 Relay 1:38.37 1:32.71 1:33.87
4X400 Relay 3:41.09 3:36.08 3:35.39
The Hawks are already winning the Mile Relay and very close to topping the other two relays after three weeks in the season.
Canyon Lake had 60 points in the relays which carried them to first place in the 12 team meet. The Hawks finished with 116 points beating their District opponent, Boerne by 66 points.
Another point from the Comfort Meet was how the Hawks were not pushed by the other teams, which can result in faster times.
The 4×100 the Hawks won by four tenths of a second…..
The 4×200 the Hawks won by over two seconds…….
The 4×400 the Hawks won by over six seconds…..
Think about what just happened….if CLHS would of had any competition, then all the times above could of been even better.
The Hawks have depth as the Junior Varsity lapped the competition, scoring 170 points with the closest competitor being the Boerne Greyhounds with 106.
“We probably had 65 or so that have been involved with track this season,” Head Coach Levi Montgomery said. “We took 52 boys to Comfort which is the most we have ever taken to a regular season meet since the school opened. I have been very pleased with how many of our athletes have been willing to come out and run track!”
The relays were the flag bearer as the JV won all three, in fact, if you compared the times of the JV with the 2009 District Track Team, then you will see that they are not that far behind the 2009 team and in some cases better.
