Coaches Hot Box with Softball Coach John Gallagher
Resporter: In the recent games with Poth you started with a loss by the tune of 19-0 vs. 4-3 and 7-5 in the two most recent games. What does this do to the mental aspect of the game for the players?
Coach Gallagher: “Confidence! Playing a good team, we know we can win and can be very good when we play our game. This game (Poth) gave us a much needed belief in ourselves as a unit.”
How far along are you on deciding the positions for District play?
Coach Gallagher: “Pretty much after this weekend I should be able to fill in a couple of lineups with a few variations.”
Resporter: What will be the building blocks (motivational) for the team as you prepare for the start of District?
Coach Gallagher: “We start a new season with district play and we have a chance to do some very good things. We have shown what we are capable of this last three weeks. Goal #1, improve daily at practice, #2 improve our intensity each practice, #3 keep things fun and continue team bonding sessions, #4 Winning is contagious! It can carry you as far as you want.”
Resporter: Of the three parts of the game…give us an idea of where you are between a 1-10 scale with 10 being perfect?
Fielding? “6 We need more consistency in bunt coverage, with better throws.”
Batting? “5 This always needs work.”
Pitching? “7, We can get better.”
Resporter: Thank you Coach Gallagher we look forward to District season. If anyone would like to sponsor Coach Gallagher’s ‘Hot Box’, then let us know, the price is cheap ($5), but what you learn will be valuable.
