Boy’s Track and Field: Coaches Corner

Resporter: Jordan Anderson is one of the fastest short distance runners in District, did you run Anderson in the 4×100 relay in Dripping Springs?

Coach Montgomery: “Yes, he ran the anchor leg and we finished 2nd overall.”

ReSporter: I saw that Dakota Repa came in and scored points for you in the Dripping meet and he has not run yet this year.

Coach Montgomery: “(Dakota) Repa is finally getting into track shape after coming over from soccer. He will has a legitimate chance of making the top three in the 300 hurdles.”

ReSporter: “Todd Pippin raised the bar (high jump) by two inches at Dripping Springs, will he compete in the Texas Relays or is it too late to qualify?

Coach Montgomery: “Todd Pippin did have a very good day, and is the favorite in the high jump going into the district meet. Although the Texas Relays are a neat event, Pippin will not compete there. His focus solely is on winning the district title in the high jump.”

ad_buddysReSporter: “Bobby Flint was still a no go in this meet, where is Flint on returning to the hurdles?”

Coach Montgomery: “Bobby (Flint) is still nursing the hamstring injury, but we fully expect him to be ready for district.”

ReSporter: “Did you see what happens when you bring some of the JV times to the Varsity? Especially in the distance?

Coach Montgomery: “The distance events will continue to be an area that we must get better in. We have some upperclassmen that are working very hard, and we also have a lot of young talent that will only get better in the future.”

ReSporter: “Finally, you had a lot of good times being set early in the season….does this give cause for a concern or was it just a perfect night with no wind for those meets?”

Coach Montgomery: “We feel that we are right where we need to be going into district. We’ve yet to run our best. Our kids are prepared and confident, and they are ready to compete.”

The Canyon Lake Track team will compete in Blanco this Thursday, in a
Tri-Meet starting at 3:30pm. This will be the last meet before District.

The Hawks will compete in Wimberley for District 26-3A on April 12-13 starting at 10am.

You will be able to get all the times and distances on the ReSporter Web Site. “Where Sports is a Passion not a Job.”
