BCS Volleyball loses to Round Rock Cursaders
The Bracken Christian Warriors started their season with a loss to Round Rock Crusaders at the Warrior gym, Monday night August 8th.
BCS finished the season last year by rallying the troops and making the playoffs with a very young team and some of that youth was still present in the opening game.
“We are still working out the kinks,” Head Coach Shaunna Teuton said. “We have a lot of girls back and we had a little learning curve tonight.”
The Warriors looked like they were playing in mid season form as they sprinted to a 15-8 lead in the first game. BCS could not hold on and the Crusaders scratched and clawed their way to a win 25-27.
“We will work on our perseverance,” Coach Teuton surmised. “The girls just getting too comfortable with the lead.”
The Crusaders started hitting on all cylinders and won the next two games 19-25 and 20-25. The second game was all Round Rock as they led by six to eight points throughout the game.
The third game the Warriors had an early lead and then the Crusaders crafted an eight point rally and never relinquished the lead as Bracken played the 3A squad evenly for the remainder of the game.
“The team was working hard and did some good things,” Coach Teuton finished.
The game of Volleyball has the ability to play several games to work out the kinks and the Warriors are not strangers to working themselves in a position to compete in District.
Bracken Christian will be back in action this Thursday at 6pm against TMI-Episcopal.
