The Canyon Lake Volleyball season is right around the corner as the girls have played some stiff competition.

“We worked hard last week,” Head Volleyball Coach Nicole Creek said. “For the most part the team is in shape.”

The Hawks finished off the Lehman Loboes in the Saturday scrimmage, but not after having a lethargic start to the games.

“I had to work on getting them excited,” Coach Creek lamented. “We are trying to learn how to step up and play early instead of the middle of the season.”

The Hawks finally showed some of the resolve they will need in the last game with a dominating win. The good news was the game was at the end of the scrimmage and the tired muscles had to be kicking in.

“I really think we are ahead of where we were last year,” Creek expounded. “Our passing game is ahead.”

Canyon Lake has seen some good teams when they started on the court with New Braunfels and San Antonio Johnson on Thursday.

Friday the Hawks played the 4A Lehman team.

“The girls get to see some good athletes,” Coach Creek finished. “That will help them see where they can improve and help their game.”

When asked about some goals for the season Creek said, “Hit our stride before District 26-3A starts and not wait.”
