BCS Middle School Fumbles Game Away, 13-6

The Bracken Middle School fumbled away the win in the fourth quarter against Concordia Lutheran at Warrior Stadium, 13-6.

“We need to work on everything,” Head Coach Steve Dement intercepted. “We will work on our secondary coverage.”

The sad part of this story was how in control of the game the Warriors were in spite of the blunders. Gaining 83 more yards than the Cardinals for the game and the Middle School ending the game on Concordia’s five yard line.

“We had a lot of anxiety,” Quarterback Sterling Garnett said. “We need to keep practicing and we will get better.”

The scoring drive covered 41 yards and it took five plays for the good guys. The big play was a 20 yard pass play to Gunnar Stolhandske from Sterling Garnett on a fourth and ten yard play.

Then Isaiah Johnson finished the drive on the next play, darting through the Cardinals for 16 yards.

“I cringe when he (Johnson) runs the ball,” Dement interjected. “He reminds me of a miniature Barry Sanders. None of the big guys can get a clean shot at him.”

The Warriors need to work on not being so nice to their visitors in football games. BCS finished the rest of their drives with fumbles or interceptions. The mistakes are hard to overcome for BCS giving them little time to stage the comeback.

The last ditch effort was almost pulled off when the Warriors drove 40 yards on just three plays, but the clock was not kind when Johnson was tackled on the five yard line with no time left.

The drive was highlighted when Brady Beene rifled a ball to the out stretched arms of Tanner Davis for 23 yards down to the 12 yard line for the last play that came up just five yards short.

The ReSporter did make a point in finding Daniel Forgione. This was the young man that was so quick the ReSporter did not have a chance to interview him for his kick-off return from the last game.

“I just saw the opening and took off,” the week old interviewee Forgione said. “I learned a lot of that from my brother.”

Now the ReSporter is caught up for the two games.
