The Canyon Lake Hawks defense has figured out by now that they will be facing a team with speed that wants to run.

In one of the games this season the Tigers rushed for 440 yards and completed only two passes for 21 yards.

The Tigers have moved Ricky Seals-Jones a receiver last season to quarterback and with his running and Jowan Davis carrying the rock, the defensive game plan should read: Stop the Run!

Davis was the player that scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter against the visiting Hawks last year.

Those two Sealy players are getting a lot of looks from colleges who would like them to wear their colors.

Sealy is ranked in every poll that the ReSporter researched  so that will give the Hawks a chance to make their first statement game.

Two items will give Canyon Lake a chance to pull the upset in this weeks game.

A) The Tigers have allowed both opponents to score 20 points or more this year.

B) Canyon Lake has added speed to their arsenal since last season, which could off set the advantage Sealy enjoyed in last year’s game.

Last week’s game for the Hawks had a very important happening that many might have missed.

Quarterback Branson Belcher was a master at getting the ball into several players hands last year and with the running of Eduardo Covarrubias and Zach Henshaw the Hawks had over 200 yards of offense with the pass and run.

That stat did not present itself last year until the ninth game against Fredericksburg.

The Sealy defense was in the offensive backfield last season so often that many of their defensive players showered and dressed in the Hawk’s dressing room.

The offensive line has already made itself known by allowing only three sacks compared to the leaky faucet that only Gordon the Plumber could fix in the last campaign.

The ReSporter has noted in earlier articles on how Belcher does not throw interceptions and presently has had 25 passes in a row without the ball finding the arms of the opposing defensive backs hands.

With the emergence of an offense that is starting to be fine tuned, coupled with a Sealy defense that is not as lethal will give the Hawks a chance to surprise some people.

Canyon Lake will need to win the little things:
*Field position
*Win turnover battle
*Bend but don’t break Defense
*Control the clock Offense

Don’t be late and get to Hawk stadium early to find your favorite seat.

This game might give the Hawks the boost needed for the team to reach the next rung in the ladder.

Good Luch Hawks!!
