BCS breaks Records, Switching to CDs, Beat Flames, 64-8

Bracken Christian doused the Flames from Marble Falls, 64-8 in their eighth mercy game in a row for this season…a record.

The offense is lethal, but the defense could be better.

The only problem in making that projection, is the defense gets to play more than the offense.

Bracken has had only 10 drives since the first game against Austin Hill Country that resulted in more than four plays before a score.

This Warriors team has so many weapons to unleash when the playoffs start in a couple of weeks. Right now, if the runner gets tackled, then the play was a failure.

Competition will be ramped up another notch this week as Bracken will try to find out if the light bill has been paid for the lights for the field.

The season has had the coaches and players doing things not normal for a football game.

BCS does not try to block punts because the offense needs as much yardage they can get to for a decent practice of running some plays.

The special teams only practice bonus points after touchdowns and have not punted yet this season.

The kick-off return team has had nine returns the last six games. Two returns went for touchdowns.

Stats for BCS has a hard time telling the story of how good and complete this team has become.

The offense has averaged 16 yards every time a hand off is made for a run.

Passing game over 19 yards per catch.

Turnovers? How about four for the season.

The team has played nine games but based on a four quarter contest? Five and a half games total when you factor the mercy rules.

Bracken had a 10 point play. That happens when this defense gets a safety and then the offense gets another crack running more plays.

The Austin Wilkinson safety was his third this year which is a another record for the Warriors.

Eli Achilles was another defensive player that seems to get joy from throwing offensive players to the ground.

“I do a lot,” Eli Achilles said while commenting on the statement above. “I would rather be the hammer than the nail.”

Bracken playoff season starts this next week when Kerrville OLH comes to town.

A win will move Bracken to first place and a fourth place team from the Houston district as the next foe and another home game to boot.

“The season starts this week,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “Walker (the heralded running back from Kerrville) is coming to town.”

The game has been anticipated since the schedules have been printed during the summer months.

Bracken will now set their sights on some formidable teams in the coming weeks.

The offense and defense have been writing a lot of records these past few weeks and months.

Forget breaking eight track and cassette player as the Warriors gaze for the ultimate, breaking a CD.
