Canyon Lake Hawks warmed up and took off their Llano YellowJackets in the Hawks Gymnasium Tuesday night.
Branson Belcher battles inside against the Llano JacketsGymnasium to improve their record to 2-2.
Senior Matt Magness was almost half the scoring for the Hawks scoring 20 points by driving to the basket with a great tear-drop shot.
“It’s a good shot when you are playing against a tall guys on the floor,” Magness stated.
Canyon Lake also knows that their goals are still in place as they beat a team that has played two other district teams with the same result.
The game was well in control when the second half started to warm up. After scoring five points in the second quarter the Hawks took control in the third quarter extending the lead to 11 points at the end of that stanza.
Llano was also a full court press team and that was another good sign for the Hawks as they finished the night with just 12 turnovers.
Senior Carl Cook had a bank shot from the free throw line and did not call it before he shot from the charity stripe.

Games played before district gives the team different looks and a way to find out how their teammates will react during games and see each others tendencies.
“Starting with today’s game we will play eight games in the next 11 days,” Head Coach Jeff Maynard counted. “We will have a chance to get everybody some minutes to see how we will go into District play.”
Those bank shots on free throws will also have to be worked on during the season…that is the best way to win the game of ‘horse’.
