Coaches Corner with CL’s Jeff Maynard
The ReSporter: What are you trying to emphasize during the off week for the team?
Coach Maynard: “We are focusing on everything that we are doing right. Although the outcomes have not gone our way, we had played well. I think that the boys seem to realize that all of these games could have easily gone in our favor.”
The ReSporter: Does the team need a little help in everything, or a larger dose with a certain part of thelr game?
Coach Maynard: “We are playing well in all areas of the game, with the exception of one–shooting. We have shot the ball better our last two games, but we still have been struggling at times when we need to make a shot.”
The ReSporter: Compare this team with your other teams based on this time of the schedule.
Coach Maynard: “I still stand by my statement that I believe this is the best TEAM we have ever had at CLHS. Sure we have had better athletes and shooters on previous teams, but we have never had a team that can play defense and execute like this team. “
The ReSporter: I noticed Paul Davis coming out of a season long slump, how do you accentuate those opportunities and find other players that will be able to produce?
Coach Maynard: “It was really good to see Paul play like he did the other night. I really don’t think that at this point in the season we try to reinvent the wheel, we just simply tell everyone to stay within our system and look for your opportunities when they come about. As we begin the 2nd round of district, we will of course find ways to get some different looks out of our offensive sets, but again everything for us revolves around how we play on the defensive end.”
