Canyon Lake Girls Track Prepares for Corpus Regional Meet
The Hawks will be sending girls that represent five events to the Region !V Meet in
Marisa Ellis Jumping to Corpus
Corpus in two weeks.
Marisa Ellis increased her best Triple Jump of the season when she skied for 36’10 and beat her closest competitor by nine inches.
Marisa Ellis now has the second best Triple Jump in Region IV while trailing an athlete from District 30 by seven inches.
The tracksters need to finish in the top two in order to get their ticket punched for Austin for the State Meet in May.
Another event the Hawks have a chance of advancing in is the Mile Relay.
The Hawks ran the event in 4:11.41 and missed their season best by .26 of a second.
The Mile Relay field will be a lot tougher with Canyon Lake presently holding the seventh best time to date.
Marisa Ellis will also have a chance for Austin in the High Jump. Her third place finish was tied in height, however she missed too many chances to place first in the event.
Marisa has a jump of 5’3 this year and if she can match or go a tad higher then she would have an excellent chance for Austin in this event also.
The Junior Varsity had several athletes garnering points, scoring 95 points and finishing in third in the Meet.
The Mile Relay once again was the highlight as the foursome of Grace Allen, Lexy Jackson, Hayley Malone, and Kayla Belanger ran 4:26.42, giving fans a glimpse of the future for this crew.
The Varsity Mile Relay team has one freshman (Mariah Ellis) and two Sophomores on that team now.
