Canyon Lake Misses Boat, Lose to Billies, 4-0

Canyon Lake will have to rely on some help in their next game in order to have a

chance for the playoffs.

The Hawks lost to Fredericksburg, 4-0 Tuesday and now have a Must Win against Navarro this Friday.

Not only will the game be a must win, but Wimberley will be in a must lose to give your Hawks a chance.

Wimberley will be playing at Bandera which is the good news, since Bandera is in first place and will be playing the Texans on their home turf.

So: Hawks need a win and Wimberley needs a loss.

Canyon Lake was held to just two hits, both off the bat of SS Vicky Henderson.

The Hawks did not have very enthusiastic plate appearances as pitcher Amber Lochte had her way, as she only had one batter that got the pitch count to three balls.

“You can’t win without offense,” Head Coach John Gallagher started. “They (Billies) wanted it more and they had more riding on the game.”

CL only reached second base once in the game and never really threatened the home team in the game.

“Their pitcher (Lochte) pitched a good game,” Gallagher continued. “We kept hoping for that one good pitch.”

After a ‘strike out the side’ third inning by Missy Romero the wheels fell off the cart as the Billies scored a run in the bottom of the fourth without recording a hit.

Two errors and a walk was the damage that would end up being all the runs Fredericksburg would need.

Now the Hawks have to take their ‘A’ game to Navarro this Friday to give them a fighting chance to play more games.

“We are not out of anything,” Coach Gallagher closed. “Navarro will be a revenge game for us and we will use this game to right that wrong.”

The Hawks will have to remember to bring their bats on the bus, because Coach said it best….. “We can’t win without an offense.”

Now it is time to get ‘Offensive’!!
