CL’s Girls Track and Field District Break Down

The ReSporter has compiled the best times for athletes from the six District 26-3A

schools and have them ranked in order to come up with a prognostication on the upcoming district meet.

Dividing the 17 events into four different categories will give you an idea of where you might want to concentrate your attention if you are fortunate to be at the two day event this week.

The results will be flawed (injuries, grades, etc.) but after using this same method last season, the team finish was the same just some minor adjustments with the final point total for each school.

The four areas that will be dissected are as follows: Sprints—Distance—Hurdles—Field Events.

You can score a maximum of 31 points with each event and you can only have three athletes representing one team for that run.

100 meter Dash:
It looks like Wenzel (Fredericksburg) might have the advantage as she enjoys a half second lead on Reeves with Bandera.

That is an eternity in the shortest outdoor event. Fredericksburg has two other runners that are also in a position to score for the Billies.

There could be some other surprises in the 100 meter run since Shapiro (Wimberley) and Boardman (Navarro) ran their best times in February. This would indicate that they might be suffering from an injury or they already reached that ‘once a year time’.

Canyon Lake has a good chance of scoring points with Emily Roach who is only one tenth of a second off the six place time at this writing. In fact, with a decent showing, Roach would only have to improve three tenths of a second to have a showing in the fourth to fifth slot.

200 Meter Dash:

Mitchell with Wimberley has the advantage with a time of 26.19 while being challenged from Gonzales (Bandera) at 26.31.

This race will be primarily between those two athletes plus Wenzel (Billies) as all three have times below 27 seconds. Also, all three of these girls ran their best times recently.

This race will be harder for a Hawk to squeeze in the point category. Presently Brookelynn Helmke is the best timed Hawk at 28.45 and would have to improve a full second to place.

400 Meter Dash:

Fey (62.46) with Boerne has the medalist time for this event presently over one second better than Romanick (Billies).

Riley’s (Wimberley) run was the first meet in February so that might have been a one and done race for her.

Hannah Graves with Canyon Lake has a decent chance of making some noise and possibly qualifying for the Regions with a good finish. Graves run (63.90) was last week in Dripping Springs and is off just one tenth of a second of getting in the top three runners.

Hope you enjoyed this look into how this year’s meet might transpire. Keep reading this weekend for more entries and Enjoy Easter!
