Tail Gate Tradition Continues

Last year during the end of Canyon Lake’s Softball season, you could walk by a few

students that had some ‘grub’ on the grill and enjoying there last days before the end of school.

Oh yeah, they would also visit the Softball game that was on their way to the playoffs for the first time in the history of this program.

These Students were mostly Seniors, but there were also enough younger aged participants that would allow this event to be repeated for the next campaign.

The CL Flag draped trucks would be seen when driving  onto the parking lot close to the Field of Dreams.

“I just like to BBQ,” Senior Brandon Berger said. “And were all about supporting the girls (Softball Team).”

The crew will eat and enjoy each others company, but as soon as the food is finished…the students will make themselves heard in support for the Hawk’s Softball team.

When asked why they sometimes show up after the game has started, Berger pitched, “We have to clean up after ourselves…besides we are a good luck charm when we show up late.”

This has been true for the few games recently as the team starts to respond when these enthusiastic fans find their seats in the stands.

“These burgers are hot and delicious,” Senior Kevin Nolan noted.

“There is nothing better to do than coming out,” Second Year Tail Gaiter Ezra Barrett chimed in. “We will go to the playoffs and pull our grill…we are ‘pulling’ out all of the stops.”

Last season the Tail-Gait Brigade was in attendance in Lampasas when Canyon Lake finished their series of games.

On this night, there seemed to be a larger crowd than what has been seen by this Reporter from past games.

You will have to give credit for the ‘burgers’ being cooked by ‘Berger’….you would have to think Brandon would know how to cook a good berger (oops, I mean burger).

The key for this Tradition is based on the younger aged students taking ownership. This is the second year and now as this season starts to proceed into the sunset it will be fun to see who will take up the spatula and continue this event.
