Canyon Lake Freshman Dissect Lago Vista, 18-0

The Canyon Lake Freshman football team was all business as they sent the Lago Vista Vikings home without their boat in an 18-0 win last Thursday night at Hawk Stadium.

This Lago Vista club beat the Hawks last year and it seemed like this group of boys had not forgotten that game.

“We wanted to come out with a victory,” Running Back Cody Davis said. “They got us last year.”

Davis finished the contest with 134 yards on 21 carries as the Hawk offense methodically took control of this game and grounded the Vikings.

“I was just trying to follow my blocks,” Davis commented about the amount of yards he had accumulated for the evening.

The half-time statistics would give you an idea of the dominance of CL’s defense.

Lago Vista only had one first down and 22 total yards and for the game finished with 49 yards and yes, they got just one first down in that half also.

“Our line had a big day,” Linebacker Haden Lee stuffed out the question. “We were really excited and were ready to make a shut out.”

You get the idea that this group of players were excited…”Excited just to be out there,” Lee closed.

Lee also was one of the Vikings leading receiver when he intercepted one pass and sent the inept Lago Vista team back to the sideline.

This defense for CL held the Vikings to 1.6 yards per play.

Offensively, Canyon Lake dissected Lago Vista like skilled doctors at a hospital.

Quarterback Joseph Arredondo was 3 for 4 passing with 97 yards.

One pass was for 61 yards to Matthew Adams on the first offensive play of the second quarter. The touchdown would give Canyon Lake a 12-0 lead.

Arredondo threw for another score as he connected with Tavion Soliz for 25 yards in the third quarter putting the final touches on the reconstructive surgery, that had the Vikings with just one horn on their helmets as they boarded their tattered ship for home.
