Bracken Christian Cuts Paper Lions, 66-20

Bracken Christian put the Lions in their den without teeth as the Warriors ran rough shod over Sugar

Senior Defensive End Jeremy Fasenmyer

Land Logos Prep last Friday night, 66-20.

Several items you can take from this game.

Bracken has a good running and passing game and when both are in sync, then the opponent can only play cards in their den while the arcade scoring goes on TV.

BCS rolled up 561 total yards which ranked only behind an Austin Hill Country game last year that went the full four quarters. This game was ruled a mercy game with over four minutes still left in the game.

Senior Eli Achilles also amassed 486 total yards via, rushing, passing, and returning interceptions. Achilles 277 yards on the ground ranks eighth behind Grady Achilles who is owner of those games.

Sugar Land Logos Prep was driving during the second quarter only behind 14 points. Their drive had started on the 29 yard line and a nine play drive had the visitors on Bracken’s one yard line.

Enter Achilles who had his second interception of this game and raced a record 79 yards for a 22 point lead.

Logos Prep was a Paper Lion after this play as Bracken poured it on for the remainder of this contest.

“I know there are some things in my game I need to work on, but I thought we did ok,” Defensive end Jeremy Fasenmyer said. “We were able to dominate and they just don’t like the hitting…I just said what the heck and I’m going to have some fun.”

Fasenmyer was commenting on how he had a good hit on one of the Lion’s players. Logos Prep had their foursome State Relay team on the field and you could tell that they might of wanted to be on the track instead of the football infield.

This game was also the fourth time Bracken had two players pass the century mark running. Fullback Preston Koch joined Achilles in this special fraternity for BCS.

Arnold Adame was back in his familiar spot of catching passes, which helped in the total yardage with another 130 yards added to the rushing stats.

Sophomore cornerback Coy Zunker had his second interception of the year and counting his two scrimmages this young player has four for the year.

Gunnar Stolhanske also had a good game in the trenches as this Freshman center held his own while catching two passes as a safety valve when Achilles was in trouble.

Bracken Christian had a complete game as they averaged almost 12 yards every time they touched the ball.

Fasenmyer (Faz) was a good addition to Bracken’s game as he was good on 50% of his bonus kicks, with more touchdowns then that will insure more points for this young kicker. One of his tries was not being observed by the referees which caused one kick not being counted.

“That was really frustrating,” Kicker Fasenmyer was stating after the odd no call on his bonus kick. “I have been working very hard on my kicking since May. I think for me to get to 100% would be great, but I also have to rely on the holder and center.”

This is a very pivotal part of six-man football and with more practice Fasenmyer will give Coach Fields a softer pillow when he sleeps at night. Counting the ref’s blunder on that one call, Fasenmyer had a decent 50% success rate.

Practice, practice, practice. Which this offense will certainly give Faz a chance to get better.

Nine touchdowns in this game and more to come.

“This game was a good indicator for what is going to happen in three weeks,” Coach Lloyd Fields said prophetically. “We are going to go back to basics. We can’t move people around because of not having enough depth. Which will mean cross training more players.”
