Bracken Christian has had just one game with Houston Emery-Weiner, but you can know one thing that is irrefutable about this 6-Man football team.

They will never have to worry about an injury depleting their roster.

E-W has had 11 players catch a ball this season while Bracken has 13 players on their roster.

This Houston team has two practices, one for defense and one for offense.

Bracken hopes no one is sick on any given day so they can have a practice with at least six players for each side of the ball.

The Jaguars are in territory that is unfamiliar for this program as they have already accumulated four losses. Two of the defeats had their opponent scoring over 70 points.

Both teams have played Brenham Christian this year and both teams had the same result. A team that could not finish the game because Brenham had too many injuries giving them only five players on the field.

E-W does have a very balanced offense averaging over 150 yards per game on both sides of the ball.

Alex Niefield is their quarterback and he has passed for over 1000 yards and also has 337 yards rushing.

Jacob Silver is his favorite receiver with 531 yards on 26 catches. The ReSporter has already mentioned that the Jaguars have another 10 players catching a pass. But, E-W does have three other players right at 100 yards receiving.

Zach Lerner with 114 yards on 6 receptions.
Holden Rosenthal with 115 yards on 13 catches.
Charlie Midio has 10 receptions for 98 yards.

Where this game could get interesting would be E-W staying on the field for an extended time.

With enough players to play on just one side of the line of scrimmage could make for a tired player and a chance to pull an upset.

The Jaguars do have a tendency to start slow as they have not had many games with piling up points in the first quarter. This will play in Bracken’s favor as this Warrior team has not had a problem in the scoring department. BCS has scored 190 points in the first quarter.

In E-W losses, it has been those slow starts that has been their downfall. A BCS fast start could be just what the doctor ordered for these Warriors.

Eli Achilles is threatening his brother (Grady Achilles) in rushing yards and touchdowns. Achilles has 1779 yards and 41 touchdowns for this season.

Those numbers come out to a respectable 19 yards per carry and a touchdown every 2.2 times he totes the rock.

But Bracken’s strength might be in their defense. The Warriors have tightened the screws on their opponents since the Gustine game.

For the season Bracken has more than doubled their yards gained against competition and first downs with 104 while giving up a paltry 52.

Opponents are at 4.6 yards per play against the Warriors while Bracken is enjoying over 13 yards per play. That would take three plays for every one play for Bracken.

Houston Emery-Weiner has had just one Mercy game thus far and this same outfit was doing a mercy game regularly the past two years.

“Emery-Weiner is a mirror image of our game we played last week,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “They have several sets and try to get an advantage any way possible.”

The good news for Bracken then is having a chance of practicing two weeks against that same offensive philosophy.

Saturday’s game might give this team a different feel, but The ReSporter thinks those feelings will disappear once those pads and helmets are put on for this contest.

Good Luck and have fun with our friends from Houston.
