CL Hawks JV Team gets Tricked and not Treated in Loss to Boerne

In a wild finish, only fit for Halloween night, the Canyon Lake JV Hawks lost a heartbreaker to Boerne 18-12 as the Greyhounds connected on a game-winning. 8-yard touchdown pass with just one second left to play.

With just under two minutes in the game, Canyon Lake stopped Boerne on a 4th and goal play and took over poised for a long, game-winning drive of their own.

Quarterback Skylar Tschoepe led the Hawks down the field with a variety of passes and scrambles.

However, the drive stalled on the Boerne 45 after Tschoepe was picked off on a long, 4th down pass attempt.

Boerne took over with 25 seconds left and immediately connected on a 30 yard pass play that moved the ball to the Canyon Lake 25. Two plays later they connected on another pass play over the middle for a winning score and one second on the clock.

The Hawks were unable to successfully complete the ole “run and lateral” play on the ensuing kickoff.

This gut-wrenching loss overshadowed the effort and intensity the Hawks played with all night. It just so happened that the ball didn’t bounce their way on this peculiar Halloween night.

The Hawks finish their season next Thursday night at Navarro.
