CL Takes Bastrop Trophy in, 38-35 Win over Cedar Creek
Canyon Lake had beaten Bastrop High School earlier this year and with this victory over Cedar Creek, can now claim ownership of Bastrop.
Cedar Creek is a program that is newer than CL competing in Sports and last season the Hawks had an easy go of it, when they white washed the Eagles, 37-10.
Another year of competition has made a big difference as this game went down to the wire.
Canyon Lake led by six points going into their half time locker room and Cedar Creek cut into that tenuous advantage throughout the next two stanza’s, but this resilient Hawk team still held on for their win.
Amber Ramsey and Katie Williams combined for 12 points and that was well off their season average.
So far this year this combo has had a 26.5 points per game average underneath, which helps open the outside for CL.
Finding ways to win will be a benefit as this season matures. This conquest now has Canyon Lake with a five game winning streak.
No other Hawk team has started the year this hot. Another win will tie the 2009 team who had a six and a five game winning streak during that campaign.
Congratulations on your first Town Trophy, now let’s go conquer some more cities in our District.
Canyon Lake will take the courts next Tuesday, November 27th at Luling, with opening tip 5pm for the Freshman.
The Hawks next home game will be Lampasas on December 4th.
