Hawks JV continue Winning ways in Victory over Stockdale, 73-23

Canyon Lake Junior Varsity continues their strong play during first part of season as this Hawk team scored at will in a complete victory, 73-23 over the Stockdale Brahmas.

CL shot over 50% for each quarter as the Hawks played like they were in their 20th game this season.

More assists than turnovers and controlling every facet in this game.

“We are getting better,” Head Coach Brian Hooper said. “We played well down low and our defense was very strong.”

“This team has some good basketball skills.”

Two players, Trendon Martinez and Austin Acosta, were both perfect from the floor with both players making six shots a piece.

“This is my first year back since my seventh grade year,” Martinez reminisced. “We have a great chemistry and we play as a family.”

On how this game went compared to earlier games, Martinez commented, “We played better, looking for better shots and not settling for outside shots.”

Martinez also contributed five assists in the runaway victory.

Tommy Clark only missed one shot on the night and then crashed the boards for 11 rebounds. His energy was contagious as this Hawk team continues their fluid playing on defense and offense.

“I thought I had a bad call against me and that upset me,” Clark took off his ‘Cape’. “Everytime I got the ball in the corner, I wanted to score and I got good passes from my teammates that made it easier.”

Four players had double figures in scoring and two more missed that mark by three points total.

The Brahmas played like Brahmas and the Hawks soared to victory.
