Canyon Lake will be baseball central this week as your Hawks will entertain four teams from around the state for the Comal ISD Tournament. There will other games played at the Hawk field so if you want to take in other games, then contact Comal Athletic Department.

Head Golf Coach Greg Norris

The Hawks had a decent week of games with a couple of run ruled games in the Lockhart Tournament and also a good competitive game with Marble Falls on opening night.

This is not the same team that has graced Hawk Field in recent years as both Varsity and JV are having some great results with depth out the wazoo.

The Varsity finished their tournament 3-0 by winning Saturday over Austin Lanier.

CLJV baseball team had a win over Wimberley on Friday night and have several players that deserve some attention.

Girls Soccer also had a significant win this past week taking on and beating Seguin, 4-0. Soccer does not have as many teams as other sports so CL plays in a 4A division with other brought up 3A squads.

Canyon Lake’s district has five teams and all but one will make the playoffs and that win over Seguin gives your Hawks a chance of breaking the Playoff Drought that started on almost two years ago after the Softball team reached the playoff round.

If the Hawks can beat Wimberley this coming Tuesday on Texan turf, then CL will guarantee a spot for postseason play.

Canyon Lake Boy’s Soccer takes on those same schools and will have a double header with the girls team in Wimberley. The Hawks will need a win against the Texans to get into playoff talk as the first round of District play is over after this game.

Speaking of a landmark win, your Boy’s Golf team are proud winners of the Navarro Panther Invitational last week. This victory was a first for Canyon Lake and you can find their exploits on a previous article on The ReSporter. Congrats to Coach Norris and these fine student athletes.

Track and Field will start up this week in Blanco. Events will begin at 3:30 and the short drive will be worth a trip.

Canyon Lake has two returning athletes that competed in Austin last year for the State Meet. Both Marisa Ellis (Triple Jump) and Jordan Anderson (400 meter run) placed and had personal bests during last years meets.

The Hawk Boys team has finished in 2nd place the past two years and look to try and improve on their position this year with many top notch athletes, especially in short distance events.

The Girls also have excelled in the 400 meter relay and will try to get more points from Field and running events as this year commences.

CL’s softball fell on hard times this past week and will look to rebound in the next few days when the Hawks travel to Luling and play a team that they handled in the Navarro Tournament last week.

It is a long season and these Hawks need to find that missing component and right this ship. More games with the Blanco tournament will hopefully bring that chemistry needed to prepare for district.
