Canyon Lake had some pretty impressive wins last week as many of our teams prepare for District 27-3A starting this week and later for other sports.
Let’s start with our Soccer teams. The Girls will have a very important game this Friday in Seguin. With a win, CL will secure a playoff spot and will then try to improve on their seeding as their season goes into a stretch run.
The Boys Soccer team will need to start finding a win soon as time will start to run out on any chances of catching any teams in their district. The Hawks will end their season with nothing but home games and need to see about stealing some wins.
Baseball had a rocky week with a couple of wins and three losses. That third loss on Saturday was coined with three words from Head Coach Trent Dunavant, “It was ugly.”
Not really anything you can add to that assessment. However getting those ugly games out of the way will hopefully make their start to District 27-3A play this Tuesday a positive one. Baseball plays each district opponent three times and so that will give you an idea on why such an early start.
The Hawks will end this week with a tournament in Llano and then jump right into district play Spring Break week.
Softball did have some good wins this past week as they still have a lot of youth and sometimes youthful players will take you on roller-coaster rides. You might want to be sure you have waited at least 30 minutes before you get on a ride.
Alexis Robinson had consecutive no-hitters last week and will have to be used delicately as this season continues so her strength can hold up. Brianna Young had a real (over the fence) home run last week and that was the first since Katy Payne hit a dinger three years ago.
Varsity Tennis won their match against Blanco and will now match up with Navarro this week and continue their season. The JV will be in action in Wimberley on Wednesday.
Golf has had some decent action with last week’s game being played in a wind that had balls going backwards and don’t even mention how the putting was handled. A finish of 4th place will certainly keep some of that momentum out of the sand.
Track started last week’s meet in Blanco and finished second and fourth (Boys and Girls). This week the running will commence in Hays on Thursday at 3:30pm.
Last week had so many events going on that you had several athletes that were constantly in motion. (pardon the track term)
This week looks to be just as busy as last week and their will be very few home affairs. Then the following seven days has many of those teams on Spring Break.
Go Hawks!!
