Canyon Lake swept Lockhart Tuesday night at the Hawk Gym as all three squads (Freshman, JV, and Varsity) took care of business on their home court.

Canyon Lake Varsity won their pivotal game after Lockhart tied up the match at one game a piece.

The Hawks had a game point and a five point lead 24-19 when the Lions responded with a five point rally to tie the score.

Lillie Sander then responded with a kill to side out and then finished off Lockhart with a service ace to end the threat and give CL a hard fought victory.

“I feel like we do too much and then we don’t take advantage of all those opportunities that Lockhart gave us,” Head Coach Kimberley Paisley stated. “We made the game tougher on ourselves.”

A loss in this game would put our visitors in prime position with what would of been their second win in a row.

“We were a little more consistent than they were,” Coach Paisley finished.

Finding out that Coach Paisley likes that word consistent will hopefully mean we hear Coach consistently use, consistent, after games in a positive way and that will let you know your Hawks just had another win.

Emily Muniz also played a solid game to help bolster another confidence builder as this young team continues to show improvement as they will now go to Cedar Creek in Bastrop for their second tournament this campaign.

“This team is getting close and learning how to play with each other,” Senior Emily Muniz said. “We are starting to communicate with each other more and that is helping us in pushing through.”

Pushing through was the key in that second game which helped in giving Canyon Lake that momentum to finish off the Lions.

“Putting our hearts into the game,” Muniz finished. “Putting in the work now will give us good results as we try for the playoffs.”

Canyon Lake still has some work to do as each match helps in refining this team for a greater finish as the season matures.
