Football: District 27-3A Recap from last Week’s Games
District 27-3A Football Recap after Week 3.
The ReSporter mentioned last week how each game was pitting a team with the same district record.
Navarro was beaten if what might be considered a minor upset when Fredericksburg won, 31-29.
That was an exciting game as it will now give Fredericksburg an inside track for their first football championship since the Billies moved down to 3A classification.
The Billies do play Wimberley next and those Texans have to be reeling after their loss at the claws of The Hawks.
The wounded animal theory would be Fredericksburg’s battle this week as the Texans will be fighting to right their ship and in a hurry as they try to secure a playoff berth.
Bandera won their first district game as the Bulldogs have been wandering around the last four years and last week as they had a convincing win over Boerne.
Bandera will be be playing Navarro this week which will certainly be a tough opponent to beat as these Bulldogs had a hard time with Canyon Lake’s Slot-T two weeks ago and Navarro will be a lethal contest for Bandera to approach a two game winning streak.
Boerne has been a total different program as they have been searching for a quarterback to take over an offense that throws as much as Canyon Lake runs the ball.
But even if Boerne is on offensively, then their real problem might reside on the defensive side of the ball.
This Greyhound defense allowed Bandera to rush for 384 yards in last week’s game.
That has to have Canyon Lake licking their chops to get into a game with the Greyhounds. Add, that these past two years, it has been this same Boerne team that has knocked Canyon Lake from a chance of making a playoff run.
Go back two years ago and remember a team that finished a year with two losses to Boerne and Wimberley and sitting on the pines after a great year except for those two games.
This week look for Navarro to get back to their running game and score a big win over Bandera.
Fredericksburg is the real deal and The ReSporter sees another win for the Billies as Wimberley takes their
third loss in District 27-3A which is three more than they have had in the previous three years combined.
Canyon Lake and Boerne? The Hawks might reach 500 yards rushing in this game and that will be the best way to keep a passing team down….down on the bench without a chance to get into the game.
Add that the Hawks have a revived defense and seem to be clicking at the right time.
Those first six games of this campaign seems like a distance memory after a win over Wimberley last week.
If the playoffs were announced today, then Canyon Lake would be facing Somerset again. That would be a fun game to revisit as this Hawk team seems to be getting their act together.
And after last week’s win, this drama, still has Canyon Lake with plenty more lines to memorize.
