Lady Hawks Improve to 3-0 in Win over Lockhart, 40-34
Canyon Lake Hawks changed their basketball date to Saturday based on football playoffs and took care of business with

a 6 point win over Lockhart at Mountain Valley Middle School’s main gym.
The Hawks started slow with a five point first quarter, but scoring in double digits in their next three quarters was more than the Lockhart Lions could handle.
The win gives CL a 3-0 record to start the season as this team has some young players and teammates getting used to their chemistry sets. Some good momentum before the schedule starts to have larger road blocks will be a hopeful by product.
In this Lockhart win, the word ‘Team’, was apropos with no player scoring more than six points.
That honor of high point went to (Fr) Mia Riali, (Jr) Kyndall Drum, and (So) Sarah Schneider.
Kyndall Drum also contributed double digit rebounds with 10 and 6 of those rebounds were off the offensive glass.
Another woeful time at the free thrown line as the Hawks will hopefully improve their aim as this season matures with a 25% from the stripe will certainly be important when district play starts.
Way too many points squandered, hence the word ‘Free’ throw.
Canyon Lake had 29 turnovers which will also need to be worked on.
A little math will give you an idea of what this score could of been if CL would of had no turnovers. A shooting percentage of 33%, would of resulted in approximately nine more made shots.
That is giving up a possible 18 points and a runaway win. Of course, having no turnovers is next to impossible, however with those lost points from the charity stripe could still get a lot of lost points.
Pre-District games will hopefully see some improvement in this arena and a team prepared to take on some tough district opponents.
Another win and now your Hawks will play Cedar Creek this Tuesday.
