Canyon Lake has Scoreboard on Wimberley

Canyon Lake’s All-District Selections

The Hawks have put their finishing touches to a season that started out with a lot of angst and ended up rivaling their best playoff season in three years when Canyon Lake went two games deep into the playoffs.

There is certainly a lot of work that goes into a year that starts out with the heat of Summer to finally end with cold temperatures in November.

Canyon Lake installed a new offense this season and with that construction started the year riding a six game losing streak before a win against Bandera that certainly righted a ship and moved this team to a third place finish in District 27-3A.

This year had three wins that will certainly go down in the books as classics.

1st Game: The win over Wimberley was long in coming but what a year to put the hurt on our friends to the North.

This game was from start to finish the best effort for the year as offensively and defensively the Hawks took Wimberley out of their game from the get go.

That final score did not really tell the whole story of dominance of a team that had beaten the Hawks each year since the start of the school.

2nd Game: Boerne would be the second classic game as Canyon Lake overcame a 22 point deficit late in the third quarter and stormed to the finish line winning by double digits over the Greyhounds.

Boerne had been a thorn in the side of the Hawks these past two years as each of those seasons, CL was taken out of contention for the playoffs in those losses.

The biggest downer came two years ago when Canyon Lake entered the game with just one loss and found themselves in deep trouble as the game progressed to that final touchdown that buried still one of Canyon Lake’s best teams.

The phrase, the best 8-2 team that did not make the playoffs in Texas and a lot of sad faces.

Winning this game in a fashion that required a three touchdown rally was sweet considering the Slot-T is not the type of offense that can reel off that many points without taking too much time off the clock.

Not a problem and a sweet victory that assured the Hawks that this season they would be playoff bound and not by finishing fourth but above Wimberley in third place.

3rd Game: Pleasanton would be the first round opponent for Canyon Lake and a team with a 3-7 record pitted against a team that had only lost one game this season.

To say that CL entered into this game as an underdog would be an understatement as they were only one week removed from a 62-0 shellacking coming from Navarro in their final regular season game.

Pleasanton had to think they would only have to suit up to win this battle but Canyon Lake had other plans as this game certainly was not pleasant and that millstone around their necks must of weighed a ‘ton’.

All the players below had something to do with this season ending on an upbeat and now with several of the players returning for another round next year the list below will only get longer.

Hawks Jumping into better Season’s as they cap off a year of improvement

The Volleyball team also had some new shoes filled this season as Coach Kim Paisley would storm into CL with a resolve that will only get a young team prepared for great games in the future.
