Lady Hawks Still Learning, Lose to Boerne, 59-27

Canyon Lake’s woes continue this season as this young team keeps searching for consistency on the court.

If the truth needs to be known, there are players on this squad that would be playing on Freshman and Junior Varsity teams at this time of the year, but instead, find themselves playing teams that have more years of experience.

So this season continues to be a learn while you play and then hopefully in a couple of years the scores can be reversed.

Amber Ramsey did have a 14 rebound game which speaks well for this Senior that is currently sitting in third place in all time rebounds for the Hawks with 526 caroms.

Tiffany Tschoepe with 579 and Katie Williams’ 559 boards would be next on the bar for Ramsey to attain as she finishes off her Senior campaign.

Other improvements can be seen as Kyndall Drum continues to work on her overall skills and free throws that have started to improve.

That one facet of the game would have Kyndall Drum climbing the scoring charts for the Hawks but up to this point of her career, her free throw shooting had not been that free.

Drum is also a Junior and will be instrumental as she teaches the younger players to hang tough in this school of hard knocks.

“I am just trying to be part of the team and build it up,” Kyndall Drum beat. “In practice we have to keep working on knowing what to do.”

This game was close with a 4 point deficit after the first quarter, but Boerne turned it on till the finish line and stretched that lead to a comfortable 32 point victory.

“Mentally we were not there,” Head Coach Mary Beth Gallagher said. “This was one of our weakest games with physical and mental errors.”

Canyon Lake will hit the road for their next two games and now the learning part of this game continues.
