CL Hawks Run Out of Time in Loss to Liberty Hill, 7-4

Canyon Lake got within one run before a two run bottom of the sixth when time was called

for the third game of the Marble Falls Tournament, losing to Liberty Hill, 7-4.

“We played much better,” Head Coach Trent Duanavant said. “This actually looked like baseball.”

Coach Dunavant was making a comment based on that double header loss to CL the day before by lopsided scores.

The Hawks had two double plays, but is was that one double play that was just missed that helped Liberty Hill with a two run inning giving them a three run lead and enough runs to win the game.

CL had six hits that were all singles while the Hawks gave up three base runners in being called out on the bases.

Those little miscues will sink a ship and Canyon Lake just could not put their whole game together for a win.

“We are trying to learn who can lead and who can’t,” Coach Dunavant said. “We need to find guys that can hit and each game we will progress as we tighten the line up as we get ready for the start of district.”

On what Coach Dunavant is looking forward to as the Hawks play another larger school on Saturday, “Win, is the first thing I am wanting, but we will be trying to find out who will be in the line up and right now we are running guys in and out all over the place.”

Another chance to fine tune a team that is looking to improve as this season continues as the Hawks finish the Marble Falls Tournament at 3:00 pm on Saturday against Hutto.
