The Hawks piled on the hits and overmatched the Eagles on this night as Freshman Kat Weber (3) led four other players with multiple hits.
“I think we did well tonight and we got aggressive,” Short Stop Weber said. “Our base running has got to get better.”
Coaches have to like players that are not satisfied and that statement speaks volumes for a player that is in her first year.
Is there competition amongst the freshman on this team? “There is always competition but we definitely love each other and are getting more comfortable with our game.”
Canyon Lake has 11 batters that have a batting average over .300 and that is in the nose bleed area as far as previous teams have accomplished.
The Hawks boast a team .373 average and an on base percentage with a lofty .479 percentage.
CL started this game with five runs and never looked back as the Hawks strung together eight hits in the bottom of the fourth inning which spelled doom for this extinct Eagle team.
Outfield has also strung some good defensive games together as the only ball they missed was a rocket off the bat of an Eagle player that sailed past the outfield fence.

Left Fielder Emma Broussard had her best all around game this year with a two rbi hit to get the ball rolling and gloving everything in the outfield that came her way.
“I did not want to let my teammates down,” Broussard started. “We are just clicking and if anyone makes a mistake, then we just tell them to shake it off and keep going.”
Those two runs, on the home run, was the only damage on this night that was a result of an error that kept the inning going for that player to come to the plate.
Kirsten Jones was talking to herself all night in the batter’s box, as she was working on slapping the ball. All she had was two strikeouts when she reached the plate for one more try in the fourth inning.
Result? One of the best slap hits The ReSporter has seen on this field, right in the hole for a clean hit.
“We were looking for someone to slap the ball,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “That was exactly where you want to hit it.”
Another bright spot was Alexis Robinson, as the girl in the circle walked just one player and almost doubled her strike to walk ratio.
“The last two games Robinson has been strong,” Coach Gallagher reiterated. “Tonight she hit her spots at least 90% of the time where I called for the pitch to be thrown.”
Coach Gallagher finished, “We have not yet dropped off and this team keeps improving and working hard.”
