Canyon Lake started their Friday doubleheader with a tie game against Burnet that was filled with

a lot of action. The game was called based on a time limit for this Comal ISD Tournament.

Burnet drew first blood in the top of the second when a misplayed ball resulted in a double to right field resulted in two runs after the Hawks had acquired two outs up to that point.

Canyon Lake put up a six spot in their half of the inning with a two rbi double off the bat of TJ Jones that helped put a catalyst in the second inning.

Burnet had two costly errors in this inning which helped the Hawks bat around on their lineup.

The third inning had what has to be the first or at the very least second Triple-Play.

Burnet started off with a rare error on a throw to first from Garrett Winters. After an infield single, the Bulldogs had two runners on first and second with no outs.

Pitcher Nick Kissel’s fourth pitch to the Bulldog induced a line out to Winters who then doubled off a runner to second baseman TJ Jones, who then doubled off a runner on a throw to first baseman Ryan Hutcheson. A 5-4-3 Triple Play happens about as often as an 8 run two out rally to win a game the day before in CL’s win over Austin Akins.

Canyon Lake took the lead again in the bottom of the 5th inning with no hits.

A walk to Nick Cahill and Kyle Krohn to start the inning started this stanza. Cahill stole third base and scored on a ground out off the bat of Jones.

Peyton Sipila was called upon to help close this game out as Kissel had reached 91 pitches on the day.

Sipila had started the inning with a strikeout and pop up to first base when Burnet’s Barker took the first pitch over the left field wall to tie the game.

Canyon Lake was not finished as the Hawks responded with loading the bases in the final inning but a force out at the plate on a ground out and two strikeouts left this score deadlocked.

Canyon Lake will continue their Comal Tournament with their last game Saturday against Lehman at Hawk Diamond starting at 5:00pm.
