Hawks Get First Win of District Season, 8-1 over Bandera
CL Hawks jumped out with a 3 run first inning giving Nick Kissel all the runs needed in a 8-1 victory over
Bandera.
Kissel struck out 8 Bulldogs while surrendering only 2 hits in a game where the Hawks stole their first win of this District 27-3A contest.
Yes, Canyon Lake’s baseball team stole 10 bases against Bandera as helped with 8 errors or over one per inning.
Canyon Lake has been very opportunistic this season as this Hawk team has had 32 players reach base this year on the opposing team’s defense.
Add in walks and hits and you have a team that has had a chance to put a lot of pressure on their competitors.
TJ Jones had a two run triple with Garrett Winters and Corey Shedrock also responding with extra base hits in this contest.
Counting players reaching base on errors the Hawks had a hefty .550 on base percentage for the evening.
Canyon Lake pulled off a pretty salty trifecta:
1) No Errors
2) Pitching out the wasoo
3) Hitting, Walks and a .550 OBP
Kissel evened his record while also lowering his era to 3.91 for this season.
An impressive last inning as Kissel battled three Bulldogs and struck out the side while missing the strike zone only 4 times in that decisive stanza.
This win helped soothe a winnable game against Fredericksburg last week and now a chance of getting some momentum as your Hawks will face Wimberley next this Friday night on the Canyon Lake Diamond.
