Canyon Lake is still in a daze as they hope to stem this ever increasing tide of losses into some much much needed wins.
In fact, with the sweep by Boerne and Navarro’s sweep of Bandera last week, the Hawks, find themselves in a must split to get their invitation to a playoff spot.
Wimberley beat Fredericksburg in their last game which will put the Billies in a must split with Bandera to realize a playoff this year.
Fredericksburg is a key puzzle piece in what and who will be in that final two places in District 27-3A hierarchy.
It was a wet night at CL last Thursday which led to a sloppy game for the hosts.
Boerne is ranked 6th in State 3A Rankings according to Texas High School Baseball and to win a game against this club, everything needs to be working at a very high level.
This was not the night for that happening as the Hawks lost their most lopsided game to these Greyhounds for this season.
This is what is known for this coming week in what needs to transpire for a happy ending in CL Land.
Hawks Must:
Win one of two games with Navarro.
If Hawks Lose two games with the Panthers?
Hope for a Fredericksburg loss to Wimberley which they got and a sweep for Bandera over the Billies.
Having Fredericksburg losses is key, since the Billies and Navarro both won their series against the Hawks in a tie breaker scene.
Fredericksburg only get in if Navarro sweeps Canyon Lake and they sweep Bandera.
Canyon Lake can only be tied with Fredericksburg and that would leave CL in a playoff seat since that would mean a split with Navarro. The Panthers would be tied with Fredericksburg and a spot based on their series win over those Billies.
CL’s last win was a clobbering of Bandera with 16-3 score and what might have been a game where the Hawks used up all of their runs on one opponent.
Good News? Canyon Lake won their last game with Navarro, 9-1 over three weeks ago.
A Cody Powell dominant pitching performance will need to be repeated again as Powell threw a one hitter in that win.
Tuesday will give an idea of what formula will be used in the above scenario of who needs to win and lose.
Go Hawks!!
