This Week @ Canyon Lake
This Week @ Canyon Lake
The Hawks are now entering the time of a close of another year with three sports still in motion.
Track & Field will have a handful of athletes still competing this week in an Area Meet that will either have them practicing another week to 10 days for Region Meet being held in Kingsville.
One of those Area Meets will be at Canyon Lake this coming Wednesday with those running events, while field events will commence in La Vernia on Monday.
Canyon Lake has several athletes with a legit chance of continuing their season.
Christian Dittman would be first on that list as he has had a top notch jumps with the Pole Vault all season.
Mariah Ellis might be a pleasant surprise in the 800 Meter Run and Bailey Drum could be an enrollee for the Triple Jump.
Shane Relkin has had over a 20 foot long jump once this year and he will have to come through with another one to get another shot at Region.
The Boy’s Mile Relay will have to be cooking as Navarro is the flag bearer in this event…the good news? Two teams from each Area Event will get to continue so CL still will need to be under that 3:30 mark to be a legit contender.
Brandon Courtney would not surprise me if he unleashed some decent times in those hurdles events.
Austin Kahill certainly knows it only takes one throw to put himself in good company. Good-Luck!!!
Junior Varsity Baseball will have their last two games this Monday with Navarro.
This club finished District 27-3A in second place and this club will certainly be in great shape to sweep the Panthers. First pitch will be at 5:00pm this Monday.
Varsity Baseball will have a tough two games this week when they take on the top team, Boerne, in the district.
Their first game will be in Boerne on Tuesday and then on Thursday the Greyhounds will return for the final game of this series.
Canyon Lake is still perched at 3rd Place, but are now on a losing streak as three teams will try to overtake the Hawks.
Fredericksburg has the best chance as they won the season series with CL and also has given Boerne their only loss of district play.
Bandera and Navarro will be the other two teams Canyon Lake will need to watch as this season enters into the last two weeks.
The Hawks have a series left with Navarro for their last two games and so that would be a team CL would have to win a series to make that final team to watch being Bandera.
Good news with that reasoning would be the season sweep Canyon Lake has had with those Bulldogs already this year.
Navarro and Bandera will finish their series this week and knowing how those two games finish will let Canyon Lake know what will need to be done when they finish with Navarro.
The Softball team will officially be starting their preparation for next season as they can only tie Wimberley with 4-6 records if Wimberley loses while Canyon Lake wins their last games.
Wimberley has beaten CL twice this year and will hold the tie breaker, while all those other teams above the Hawks would have no better than a 5 win district season which would have one more than CL could muster by winning their last two games.
