BCS Beats the Heat in Scrimmage
Bracken Christian results from their Mystery Tour are in with a resounding scrimmage in Prairie Lea yesterday.
In Coach Lloyd Fields talk earlier this week, he had mentioned that this year’s team is a mystery without knowing how some players would react.
Well, scoring 11 times and only giving up three touchdowns would be considered a successful day of work.
Granted, this group of teams will not be carrying any banners in a Parade this year, but when you are on a mystery tour yourself, then surviving and playing well would be a good barometer.
“Our number 1 opponent yesterday was the heat,” Coach Fields withered. “The heat index had to be close to 105 with being close to the river and having no wind.”
Yes, Coach Fields certainly has an opportunity of being a weather man after he hangs up his clip board.
“We hung in there with 80 plays,” Coach Fields counted. “They (other teams) wanted to play another 40 plays but we closed camp after those 80.”
In six-man, many times you don’t have 80 plays in two to three plays, especially if you mercy some teams.
“We will be working on our conditioning before we have our next scrimmage next week,” Fields continued. “We had two cool weather days last week and that did not help in our conditioning, so we will have some more chances of some hot days to work out.”
The ReSporter can safely say that Coach Fields might be the only person in Comal County wishing for heat.
