The Canyon Lake Hawk’s Volleyball team will be returning home this Tuesday when they play Smithville.

Canyon Lake has reeled off 12 wins thus far and being just two weeks into their season they have averaged 1.2 games per day.

Two tournaments, in Wimberley and Bastrop, helped in adding to that total. The Hawks will end their tournament tour this weekend when they travel to San Marcos.

The Hawks best win was against Navarro in Wimberley’s tournament and worst loss might have been in their last game at Bastrop when they faced Thrall, a 2A team for that Championship game in the Silver Bracket.

In fact, CL has played schools from that 2A team clear up to the 6A classification.

Schools Wins Losses Teams
 2A 0 1 Thrall
 3A 2 0 Stockdale, Luling
4A 5 1 LibertyHll, Navarro, Smthvile, Taylor, Hamshire, Lampasas
5A 3 3 Tivy, Uvalde, Lockhart, Bryan, Rudder, Cleburne
 6A 2 0 Schertz Clemens, Killeen

Canyon Lake also pulled off their 100th victory for the school when they beat Taylor on day one in Bastrop. The Hawks now have an All-Time Record of 104-109.

In the last two tournaments, CL has played 14 games and have a decent record, 10-4. A good record but when you look back at that first loss with Liberty Hill, Canyon Lake had won the first two games but still lost the match when they could not get that third win.

In tournament play, all matches are based on the best of three format to help increase the number of games that can be played and giving an incomplete grade to what those contests might mean when non-tournament games kick in with a best of five contests.

With a new group of teams in District 26-4A you now start to look at records to see what teams will put on the court when you start playing for keeps.

The ReSporter had a hard time finding records for a few of the district teams, but what is known is on the standings below.

Canyon Lake will play this Tuesday at home with Smithville, who the Hawks have played and beaten this past week.

Come out and support a solid group of girls as they keep focused on a chance of making the playoffs.
