Coaches Corner with Bracken’s Lloyd Fields

Coaches Corner with Bracken’s Lloyd FieldsHead Coach Lloyd Fields

The ReSporter: Hey Coach have you had a chance to get that ‘blahh’ feeling after last week’s scrimmage during this week’s practices out of your system?

Coach Fields: “Yes and no, today’s practice was better but the bottom line is that we are still young and we are just trying to fight through it.”

The ReSporter: Is it hard for a crowded field football team to transition to 6-Man?

Coach Fields: “I don’t know, I have never been in that position but many times it is hard for an 11-Man to play 6-Man with 11-Man tactics.”

The ReSporter: What have you done this week to improve your chances for a win?

Coach Fields: “We did make some changes and moved some players around to maximize our playing this Friday. Brady Beene might be playing more defense.”

The ReSporter: Is that a risky move based on Brady being the starting QB?

Coach Fields: “He (Brady) is a strong kid and he is in good shape, so we will need to play our best players at certain positions to give us a chance to win. I can’t worry about an injury, but he (Brady) is a smart player. The season is here and now.”

The ReSporter: Speaking of injuries, is Zack Fasenmeyer ready to play?

Coach Fields: “He will suit up but he will not start…he hasn’t been at full speed yet and he hasn’t practiced in 10 days.”

The ReSporter: What are some players that might be fun to watch?

Coach Fields: “Well our young kids will have to step it up. Thomas Johnson at center is doing a good job and Christian DeLeon has become a good DB to go along with his receiving skills. We will use everyone because we will need to get players some rest.”

The ReSporter: What other parts of the game will look different?

Coach Fields: “We are developing a good spread offense and our passing game will have some weapons. Temple will come right at you and so we will try to offset that part of their game.”

The ReSporter: What will BCS need to do in order for you to leave the field with a smile on Friday?

Coach Fields: “We can’t beat ourselves and we will need to cut out our silly mistakes. We are making a lot of those mistakes and they are mental mistakes.”

“We can’t get behind early…with the heat this time of year a team that gets behind will spend a lot of energy to get back in the game and not having enough players will tire us out and that is hard to sustain….if we can get two or three touchdowns in the lead then I think we can win.”

“Our 8 starters will have to beat their 14 starters so we can’t give up cheap TD’s and we will need to make them earn their scores.”

“The team with the fewest mental mistakes will win this game.”

The ReSporter: Thanks Coach, I look forward to seeing what this year’s club will aspire too! Go Warriors!!
