Coaches Corner with Volleyball’s Kim Paisley:
The ReSporter: What are your thoughts about where Canyon Lake is now compared to the beginning for the season?
Coach Paisley: Varsity: “We started off the season with good intensity, and with having played 25 matches in less than a month and school starting, we began to experience some challenges and new elements. I definitely feel we are back on track and getting a bit more rest now that Varsity’s tournaments season is complete.”
Subvarsity: “They are both working very hard from the beginning of the season and up to this point. We are seeing a lot of personal development and maturity from the players, and discovering leaders as the season progresses.”
The ReSporter: Have you been pleased about your tournament play?
Coach Paisley: “The Varsity has brought home hardware from all three tournaments this year! We definitely gained many learning experiences, playing time for all, and we have developed our mental toughness.”
“The Subvarsity tournament will be in Wimberley next Thursday and Saturday, for their Tex-Fest.”
“All three teams are off on September 12th for our Homecoming.”
The ReSporter: What are your concerns as you draw closer to District 26-4A?
Coach Paisley: “Keeping everyone healthy and injured free. We are ready to compete.”
The ReSporter: Earlier this year you felt that the team did not have the stamina needed, has that improved?
Coach Paisley: “Oh, the stamina has improved.”
The ReSporter: How do you approach your next couple of games before the start of district? Are you still in the refining stage or do you still have some fixing up that is needed?
Coach Paisley: “We are refining in practice and games daily. Girls are confident in positions. We can always work to get better. We are continuously improving ourselves.”
The ReSporter: Thanks Coach and good luck tonight against Sinton!!
