BCS Runs Out of Ammunition in Loss to Castle Hills, 60-13

Bracken has tough game with SA Castle Hills

Bracken Christian is in a survival stage of the season as more players were lost to injury in their loss to SA Castle Hills, 60-13.

The Warriors were matching The Hills during the first part of the game when an apparent touchdown pass was overruled for an interceptions which would have given BCS a touchdown lead during that first quarter.

Castle Hills responded with a one play 79 yard run and from their the Warriors would play catch up.

Bracken would drive again on their next possession and score on a Noah Boriack pass to Freshman Christian DeLeon, which would bring the score to 15-13 deficit.

Boriack started the scoring for BCS when he took his first play from scrimmage for 65 yard run, but there would not be many fireworks for the rest of this game as this Warrior team ran out of ammunition.

Castle Hills has a reason for being the Defending State Champion on this night as they have approximately 29 boys in their high school and this team dressed 19 players which would give them the advantage as Warriors would fall out of the lineup as this game progressed.

Boriack would end this night with 140 yards rushing and while passing for 107 yards being responsible for 247 yards.

When Boriack left the game, Bracken would just try to get in the survival mode, as the Warrors would end this game with two players on their bench.

Fatigue would unleash the carnage as Bracken just did not have enough ammunition to stave off the Castle Hills attack.

The Alamo would be a good example of how this game would finish….a team that played tough, but would eventually lose simply by not having enough players to field a team to allow players to rest.

Castle Hills was certainly touch enough to win this game regardless of players on this night but as in the Austin Veritas match….Bracken was in the game until the contest would get longer and finally wear out the team.

The rushing yardage (425) and total yardage (543) are now the new marks for teams that are playing Bracken’s defense, to try and beat.

“When you have 327 yards of offense and score twice, you might need to change coaches,” Coach Fields said while assessing the damage to his troops. ” We might be short handed but we certainly are not short hearted.”

Hopefully next by next week Bracken can get reinforcements to their Alamo in time.

Bracken has a one big asset to next week’s game…..it is on the road where BCS has a .892 winning percentage.

“We have reached the point in our season that we will have a must win situation next week to make the playoffs,” Coach Fields prognosticated. “Our season will be over if we don’t win next week.”

The ReSporter feels it was probably good that Coach Fields was not General Sam Houston.

Go Warriors!!
