The Hawks had a 15 point run in the second quarter while holding Yoakum to three in taking this first game.

Freshman Reagan Heun was deadly from beyond the arc as she finished the night with 21 points and scored 9 of the 11 points in the last quarter.

“I had my rhythm in this game and then the bench got into it and I was just ready to do my thing,” Heun said. “This win means so much because we are so young and it will get us on our way up.”

Canyon Lake was down 10 turnovers from their average so far this season, which certainly helped CL take advantage of getting more shots off.

“We have focused a lot on reducing our turnovers in practice and it helped to get us some quality shots,” Heun said flawlessly.”

Senior Kyndall Drum was back in action after missing the non-district games and came through with 10 rebounds and even more leadership for this young ball club.

Alexis Fullen continued to excel inside the paint as she finished with 9 rebounds and three blocked shots.

“I just go to the ball,” Fullen said nonchalantly. “I will go wherever the ball goes.”

Nine rebounds and three blocked shots shows that Fullen certainly has a nose for the ball.

“This win means a lot and it will help in keeping our heads up in knowing that we can win,” Fullen said.

On what it meant to have Drum back on the court.

“She is good and she has been helping us during the season, but tonight we could hear her better since she was on the court and that helped us,” Fullen finished.

January 25, 2013 was the last win in district play for Canyon Lake and this game was won early with some degree of authority.

Now the Hawks next home game will be January 6th when Navarro comes to town for the next game in district play.

Canyon Lake will be back in action in Lampassas when they play Early and Lampsas on December 29th.
