CL Hawks will need to get their train back on track this Friday as they start the second half of their district race.
The Hawks beat Yoakum at home to start district play 35 days ago and will need to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win.
A Hawk loss would put Canyon Lake in a position of having to win some tough games that they lost in that first round of games.
CL is tied with La Vernia for that last playoff spot and have proven that they can win more than that total in the second round, but there will need to be some improvements to pull that off.
Navarro is the front runner and should finish their district play undefeated after going through their six games unscathed.
Cuero and Wimberley are holding down the next spot with Canyon Lake and La Vernia one game behind those two.
That is why a game with Yoakum will need to end with a win as this team’s only win was against hapless Gonzales which is holding down the last spot without a win.
Cuero, Wimberley, La Vernia, and Canyon Lake are all capable of beating each other and how those teams play in this final round will let you know how District 26-4A will finish.
Canyon Lake has a legitimate shot with the addition of a more in sync Kendall Drum who returned from her injury to start district play.
Consistent play from the this Hawk team will be imperative for a good finish.
Freshman Reagan Heun and Alexa Ramos, have played enough games in the upper division that the game has slowed down some for these two phenoms that can certainly help in finishing this season in strong fashion.
Alexis Fullen has to be one of the top sixth players coming off the bench as this young athlete is blocking shots and pulling down some key rebounds in each game.
You also have an improved Junior in Sarah Schneider who is improving in each game right before your eyes and that improvement from her and the rest of this club has the ability to pull off this feat.
Canyon Lake will be at home Tuesday January 27th when they welcome Gonzales to the Hawk Nest as they will go on the road this Friday with a game which will have to translate into a win with Yoakum.
Go Hawks!!
