Canyon Lake has not had this type of excitement on the Soccer field with two teams since the school started and with another win in the books, both teams look poised to have success when the real season in District 28-4A, get going.

The Lady Hawks, now have 14 players that have scored a goal or assist this season as six different girls got in the scoring books in their 8 goal tally with Smithville.

CL had a chance to go over several parts of the game as Head Coach Ryan Tierney commented, “Our main focus of improvement is movement off the ball.”

Christy Fowler led CL again on Tuesday when she pulled off another Texas Hat Trick in scoring four goals for the third game in a row.

Fowler has now garnered 22 goals this season and with her next score she will tie the number of goals the team had last year. She now has 51 goals amassed in her Hawk career.

Everyone got into the action as Head Coach Ryan Tierney tried a lot of different line-ups to give the Hawks plenty of looks for future conquests.

Smithville was beaten by district foe Wimberley earlier this year, 8-0….so there should be some good battles coming this year in the Hawk Nest.

Now Canyon Lake has an important date when Boerne comes to town next week to start district play.

“We are focused on the task at hand and that is Boerne,” Coach Tierney said. “We are going to eat and sleep Boerne. We will not take any moments for granted and live and breathe every second we get to play soccer.”

The Hawks are playing some of the best soccer in their short history as they are winning big and are presently on a three game winning streak and are averaging 4.8 goals per game while giving up 2 per game.

“The future is bright for this team,” Coach Tierney stated. “We have been hit with the injury bug and are missing athletes to other sports, but we keep fighting and driving forward. If we can get everyone healthy and on the pitch at the same time, I know there is no limit to what these girls can do.”
