==================================================
With all things considered, Canyon Lake had a successful week as both boys and girls Soccer Teams finished with a combined 3-1 record.
In Basketball, CL’s girls won an exciting overtime game with Yoakum helping this young and exciting team in the hunt for one of those four playoff spots in district play.
Canyon Lake’s Boys Basketball will need to turn it around this week if they hope to have a chance for one of those four spots. A loss to Yoakum put this Hawk club in trouble as they do not have much room to have any more mistakes as the boys team will start their second round of district play this week when they host Gonzales.
Back to Soccer, Canyon Lake, has young clubs with both the girls and boys teams and some exciting wins will give both teams some momentum going into district play next week.
The Girls Soccer team is scoring a lot of goals as they enjoyed 13 scores in their two wins, while only giving up one goal in their win over Pleasanton last Friday and giving La Vernia a goose egg.
Boy’s Soccer lost Tuesday with Giddings and then rebounded on Friday in a win over Pleasanton Eagles.
Both boys and girls will play at home this Tuesday against Smithville as they play their last non-district game before the games start counting with their first encounter with Boerne in February.
Canyon Lake Girls Basketball will continue their last swing through district play as they will host Gonzales this Tuesday where another win is imperative against this Apache team.
Since Gonzales has not won a district game, then a loss to this team would be a major blow for Canyon Lake to realized their legitimate chance of finishing in the top of the standings.
The Boy’s Basketball team will also have a must win for most of their games in their second round of district play as they garnered just one win the first time through and that has put a sense of urgency on finishing with some wins to jockey for a chance to finish in the top four.
Canyon Lake’s Swim Team will also have their huge Swim Meet at Palo Alto this Saturday as they also look for having a successful end to their season.
Go Hawks!!!
