Softball: Hawks Can’t Keep Lead in Loss to Gonzales, 8-6

Canyon Lake lose in their last inning again in District 26-4A play as Gonzales continued the Hawks snake-bit district play, 8-6.

The Hawks forged into the lead after a three run fifth inning and then added another insurance run in the seventh only to find out their policy would not cover those last two outs needed to close out this game.

Alexis Robinson was the bad luck pitcher as errors helped in spelling this ending for the second time in their two district outings.

Canyon Lake will need to find out a way to close games as they play their last non-district games in San Marcos Tournament on Saturday.

Kat Weber led the team with two hits with a run scored and Robinson continued her hot hitting pace with another her fifth double this season.

Robinson has 9 of her 16 dingers going for extra bases this season.

Navarro is next up for the Hawks as the Panthers will be in town next Tuesday as this tough district continues to play out.
