Top 5 Games 2014-15 School Year- Game 2
Game 5 Canyon Lake 70 Yoakum 52 Basketball Game 4 Canyon Lake JV 2 Wimberley 1 Volleyball Game 3 Canyon Lake 49 Fredericksburg 31 Football
Game 2 on the count down will be featuring the Varsity Volleyball team as they had a banner year and proved they belonged in the playoffs after missing this venture for the past 3 years.
Canyon Lake swept Taylor in their first round in the playoffs and that was a ‘Bucket List’ item that Head Coach Kim Paisley was really wanting for this year’s team.
The Hawks finished 2nd in District 26-4A and that helped, in getting a lower seeded team in District 25-4A, the Taylor Ducks.
First off, CL had just finished their regular season by getting their 30th win and that number was 5 more than the 2009 club that finished with 25 victories.
Canyon Lake also advanced the Hawks to a better than .500 record for the first time in Hawk history. CL will go into their next season sporting a .515 winning clip. (123-119 record)
Of all the Hawk sports, Volleyball, has the only winning overall record.
Yes, the Track & Field and Swimming teams are good but they are set up where they will always have more teams to beat to get to the top for each week in the type of competition played.

Canyon Lake was suppose to win their first round game with Taylor based on how their year played out versus Taylor’s season.
The Hawks did not disappoint as they jumped out to a large lead when they reached an 11 point advantage (21-10) in the first game and coasted to a win.
Addison Farley and Bailey Drum will both be back as Seniors this coming season and they both had double digit kills finishing with, 15 and 16 respectfully for the match.
Canyon Lake had a, 13-6 lead in the second game when Senior Hayley Melone started the onslaught with a 5 point service.
What is encouraging to note, in this match, was how several other players started to ‘will’ themselves to another level.
The Hawks have a strong Junior class and that was evident as Hannah Wunderlich and Alexis Robinson had an impressive outing.
Robinson was filling in for Senior Lillie Sander who had been injured 3 games earlier and Sander was a big part of this year’s campaign by playing up at the net as a blocker.
Robinson filled that roll in this game in that capacity and gave Coach Paisley a good look for her Senior year and how she might be helping in those future games.
The ReSporter has already mentioned Drum and Farley who are part of that strong class that will debut as Seniors for next season.
The Taylor Ducks only had one thing going for them on this night as the rain falling that night would certainly help jn getting this team home.
Canyon Lake will have a chance of continuing to add to their victory total and getting more separation from those losses as they will enter their 7th year of competition.
A lot of bars were raised with last year’s club and that will beg the question….are any of these Hawks afraid of heights as that could possibly be a concern as they embark on another year where they can fulfill more of those ‘bucket lists’ in raising the bar.
Good Luck and Go Hawks!!
