CL Hawks with Mixed Results in NEISD Tourney

Canyon Lake had mixed results on their first day at the NEISD Tournament with two losses and one win.

What you take from a day like this is focusing on the team the Hawks beat.

Clemens was that foe, and CL took a game against a team that had won earlier against the Hawks at home.

“Pay back,” Head Coach Kim Paisley said. “This win assured us with a win and tie with the other 2 teams….this tournament is a good opportunity and we certainly played up.”

Coach Paisley was responding to the group of teams in this tournament as all the teams today were larger classifications.

The four team pool play today had Canyon Lake tied for second place with a 1-2 record which matched, Clemens and Incarnate Word, as all three teams were beaten by Clear Falls.

“We had some players that were wide eyed today,” Coach Paisley quipped. “Overall we really did a good job and many of their points were off our errors.”

Head Paisley wanted to play in this tournament more for preparing Canyon Lake in district over getting wins, even though, wins, would have been nice to accomplish.

The Hawks will be in action again tomorrow starting at 8am against Converse Judson and then a repeat game with Incarnate Word.

“I feel we can beat Incarnate Word and then we will see where that puts us for Saturday,” Paisley said.

Canyon Lake did beat Clemens which also had beaten Navarro earlier this season, so that is always gives these teams a good idea of how they stand with district foes.

“Clemens did not look ready,” Paisley finished as the Hawks now have a pay back on a recent foe while on Friday another chance to even the score with Incarnate Word.
