What went well last week? How about Canyon Lake’s Varsity Volleyball team as they finished the week with a, 7-1 record.
With that record came the Championship in the Silver Bracket in San Marcos, as they beat Weatherford who resides in the 6A neighborhood.
Another victory was over Fredericksburg who has been a nemesis for so many seasons as they shared the same district for the first 6 years.
Now, all the tournaments are over and each game will be best of 5 with the importance of contests getting more intense as District 26-4A will start for Canyon Lake on September 15th.
The home game with Marion on Tuesday will be the last home game until a match with Gonzales on the 18th of this month.
Another ‘went well’ game was how CL’s Freshman football team took care of business against Lago Vista as the Hawks accomplished a first with 3 players finishing with 100 yards rushing in this game.
The 48-6 win continues a streak that started last season at Mountain Valley and a streak of more victories will be fun to watch with this group of young man.
Bracken Christian also started their football season with a solid win and had two players top the 100 yard barrier and one of those players went over the 200 barrier for good measure.
That 200 yard rusher is a freshman and that will be good news for the Warrior fans as this group of players get settled in and adjusted for a break out season.
On the other hand, Canyon Lake’s football team shot themselves in the foot and never were able to get an offense against Blanco as they were blanked.
History with Blanco has been etched in stone that they are hard to score on and this year continued the Panthers dominance against the Hawks.
Smithville will be next and a victory will be needed as this game will be on the road against a Tiger team wanting some pay back after losing to the Hawks a year ago.
Hawk’s Cross Country team will be off this Saturday.
To recap: CL’s Volleyball team last home game for 17 days will be Tuesday and a chance to see a team that continues to roll.
Bracken Christian will play Victoria Cobra’s at home wanting to go, 2-0 to start this season.
Canyon Lake’s Varsity and JV will need to lick their wounds and get back on the field to see if last week’s games were just a blip as they will try to get a win to even their records.
Go Hawks!! & Go Warriors!!
