Bracken Christian Warriors proved they can win games no matter the score after closing down The Winston last Friday night, 30-14.

“A slow start but it was not that bad,” Head Coach Hosea Stredic said. “Overall we played a real good game…we got some ‘woooo’ hits and we were tackling and hitting.”

Coach Stredic was wanting those wooo hits (a hit that causes the fans to go woooo).

“I counted at least 5 wooo hits and I told the team I wanted them to sell out and be all in,” Stredic said strategically. “Now they are getting more hits with their tackles.”

This game was the last regular season game as district play will be upon this young upstart team as they will enjoy a bye week before meeting up with Austin Veritas in Austin on Saturday October 3rd.

Bracken had a game that just doesn’t happen very often by winning after scoring just 30 points.

Least Amount of Points Scored in a Win
 Points Game Year
 20 Fredericksburg Heritage 2008

 30 SA The Winston 2015
33 Marble Falls Faith Academy 2009

All of those games were played in the previous decade and always remember that these games were all wins.

This contest also was in the top 5 in being one of the lowest aggregate points.

Those 46 point games happened by half-time as the Warriors won those games via the Mercy Game.

Quarterback Brady Beene had his best rushing game ever as he finished with 125 yards on the ground which added up to 196 total yards of offense.

Freshman Presley Day was a busy player too as a solid game on the receiving end as this game was his best in that category finishing with 61 yards on 3 receptions and a total of 150 yards when you add his rushing in the game.

Day also scored three times helping BCS to outdistance The Winston as the game inched into those later quarters. Day was an active player on the defensive side of the ball with several tackles.

What else did Day do? Why not an interception in the end zone stopping an Eagle drive,

Bracken finished with 3 interceptions as that was the same total for Winston for receptions.

The Winston shot themselves in the foot with those interceptions and seven fumbles and losing three of those miscues.

Bracken took their first lead with 8:06 left on the 4th Quarter clock as this game was very much in doubt until Beene found Day for a catch and run for 35 yards giving the Warriors enough separation with just over 2 minutes left in the game.

The Winston went up, 14-6 on their first possession starting the second half and an answer by BCS was huge as the Warriors took just 3 plays as Day ran it to the house from 36 yards out and draw within two points to the Eagles, 12-14.

Beene would take two hard runs for 22 and 25 yards on consecutive plays on Bracken’s first possession in the 4th quarter for their first lead, 20-14 as Carlos Navarro converted on his first pat of the evening.

Winston would fumble on two of their next drives and then a safety on the Eagles last time with the ball for the final score, 30-14.

Daniel Forgione was active in during the middle of the first half as he had two interceptions, after a fumble on his first theft and then being sure that would not happen on his next interception just two plays later.

Forcing turnovers helped in giving BCS this win as they will take a win anyway they can.

The Warriors will now start their 2 week preparation for Austin Veritas after a bye week.

“We will get our offense ready to rock and roll and get in full gear,” Coach Stredic said. “The defense will have to pick it up and keep our composure.”

Two weeks will be here quick so get ready and Go Warriors!!
