Canyon Lake beat #7th Ranked La Grange on the road on Tuesday in 5 sets as the non-district part of the Hawks schedule has been completed.

CL does not have as good of a record as last year at this time of the season, but you certainly can make the case that this Hawk team might be better than last year’s edition.

Canyon Lake now boasts a 20-8 slate and a record that has losses to 5A and 6A schools and one loss to Peaster which came in the Wimberley tournament early in August.

That loss to Peaster was a game that CL lost the services of Addison Farley when she turned her ankle during the warm ups before that game.

Peaster is a 3A school that is presently ranked #1 in that classification and so even the one smaller school that was victorious is ranked in the nose bleed area.

Canyon Lake won the first set by 9 points, 25-16 but La Grange made a statement set immediately when they gave the Hawks one of their most lopsided losses of the year, 25-12.

Another set that was lost had Canyon Lake battling back to win the next two giving the Hawks their longest winning streak of  this season now residing with 8 going into next week’s district play against Yoakum.

This win was also the 11th win in the past 12 games giving the Hawks plenty of momentum when District 26-4A gets started next Tuesday on the road.

Bailey Drum led the team with 19 kills while also contributing with 3 blocks in this match.

Junior Regan Mickey had 27 assists while Addison Farley ended with 32 digs, her most for this season.

Go Hawks!!
