There was not a loss by any of the teams for the week and that is a first for The ReSporter as well as for Canyon Lake sports.

Start at the top would be another undefeated week for Hawk’s Volleyball team as they took care of Marion and Austin Salvio.

This week the Varsity will get a real test when they travel to LaGrange and meet a team ranked in the top ten giving Canyon Lake a good measuring stick as they will be playing their last game before district starts the next Tuesday.

LaGrange ranked 7th in the recent, Texas Girls Coaches Association Poll.

LaGrange will also be playing LaVernia before district giving the Hawks a good measuring stick for one of the top district teams too.

Another team on that top 20 list is Navarro coming in at 13th, CL can circle that date on their calendar as it will be another team that will stand in the Hawks way as they climb that mountain called a District 26-4A Championship.

That crown was owned by Wimberley last year and the Texans have taken care of business these past 18 years regardless of the district they played in.

In fact, Canyon Lake has never even won one set against the Texans in their history. Best game was 3 or 4 years ago when the Hawks lost 27-25.

Yep, that is a Big Mountain to climb.

Speaking of Wimberley, the Texans will having their Tex-Fest Tournament this Thursday and Saturday for the Freshman and Junior Varsity teams.

Canyon Lake also won all 4 of their football games last week. Yes, there was 4 games as the Hawks added another game to take care of all the players on the Freshman and Junior Varsity teams.

That first contest was won by the Hawk Gold team over Lehman as Connor Rose took the flag scoring five touchdowns in that win.

The only points scored on the Sub-Varsity teams was also in that game, but The ReSporter was told the second team gave up that score.

The Hawks JV team won their first game this past week jumping on Smithville with a shut-out, 18-0.

The Freshman team also won running away for a 34-0 victory for a team looking pretty salty.

Canyon Lake’s varsity also got on the winning side of things against Smithville as the Hawks certainly were the Jones’ this past week.

Marion will be another winnable game but with a team that is young like the Hawks you really never know what is going to be the type of team to show up.

A great second half and some mental toughness as well as focus should be evident as the Hawks will be facing Wimberley in two weeks.

Bracken Christian will be facing their toughest opponent of the season as Austin Hill Country comes to town. The Warriors own a 7-3 all time record against the Knights and this too, is a young team so seeing how they respond will give Bracken a good indication on what might be in store for this team.

Hawk Cross Country team took the week off and will jump right back into a tough meet in Liberty Hill as Head Coach Mary Beth Gallagher has been waiting to see how this group will do after their 2 week hiatus since their run in New Braunfels.

Come back to the, This Week, article as The ReSporter will be updating it as games finish so you can stay on top of Canyon Lake Sports and Bracken Christian Football.

Go Warriors and Hawks!!
